After launching vending machine cafes in Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio and Lakeside, Pasir Ris will be the next heartland to have its very own VendCafe from 19 August.

According to a media announcement on Thursday (10 August), a new vending machine cafe by Chef-In-Box, an initiative by vending machine purveyor JR Group, will open at Blk 766 Pasir Ris Street 71. The cafe will offer foods by world-renowned chefs such as Satish Arora from India, who has prepared dishes for public figures such as Queen Elizabeth and former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Satish, who has had 50 years of catering and cooking experiences with the Taj Hotels Group, will be lending his food expertise to VendCafe through six dishes. They are prawn chettinad, chicken korma, mixed vegetable Goa-style curry, homestyle chicken curry and butter chicken, which is the Queen’s favourite.

Satish will be one of several chefs participating in VendCafe’s “World Chef Series”, which consists of 18 Indian-, Korean- and Thai-style dishes. The remaining participating chefs and their dishes will be unveiled at a later time.

“This is a marriage of technology and food, and I’m all about innovation, not confusion. Chef-In-Box allows me to make my dishes from my kitchen and serve them not only to the man on the street but bring a taste of India to the world stage, too,” said Satish, 70.

The launch of the latest vending machine cafe as well as the World Chef Series will be graced by deputy prime minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also an MP for the Pasir Ris West ward under the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Separately, Chef-In-Box also shared that they will be expanding to London. JR Group CEO Jocelyn Chng will be at the event together with the brand’s partner from London for a signing ceremony.
