Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler may soon join the leagues of celebrity couples who break up and get back together (see: Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik). Apparently, these two aren't done with each other quite yet.
A source at E! News revealed that the breakup came down to scheduling conflicts and long-distance issues. With Hudgens overseas filming Netflix's The Princess Switch 2 and Butler in production as the star for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, the two apparently struggled as a couple; although, they both remain friendly.
"They're just shooting on two different continents and it's a matter of distance," the insider said. "There is no bad blood at all, and they have a lot of respect for each other."
Although they "are split for now," they're also "going to see what happens," another source told the outlet.
The insider continued, "They have such a history and deep connection they could find their way back to one another."
In a 2018 interview with Women's Health, Hudgens called Butler her "best friend."
"He inspires me more than anyone," she said. "We both respect, trust, and admire each other. It's so solid now because I feel strong as an independent woman. I am very self-reliant, but it's nice to have a best friend you can share victories with as well as losses."
