Vanda Patisserie’s new Singaporean-inspired Madeleines come in flavours like Matcha Kacang Puteh and Haw Flakes

In celebration of Singapore’s 57th birthday, Vanda Patisserie will be launching their “Don’t Say Bo Jio” Madeleines Box (S$28), containing six madeleines in the flavours of nostalgic Singaporean childhood snacks.

For the uninitiated, madeleines are a type of French sponge cake in the shape of a shell, made with butter, eggs, sugar and almond flour. Vanda Patisserie’s “Don’t Say Bo Jio” Madeleines Box presents an exciting fusion of French and Singaporean cultures.

The “Don’t Say Bo Jio” Madeleines Box features six stunning madeleine creations: Dried Mango with Coconut, Popping Candy (Magic Dust) with Earl Grey, Potato Wheel Cracker with Chocolate, Purple Plum with Brown Butter, Haw Flakes with Cranberry, and Kacang Puteh with Kyoto Matcha.

Dried Mango with Coconut comes in a vibrant yellow colour, topped with dried mango pieces and desiccated coconut. Purple Plum with Brown Butter, on the other hand, creatively utilises a piece of dried plum to create the image of a flower.

Savoury snack lovers can look forward to the Potato Wheel Cracker with Chocolate, a chocolate-covered madeleine topped with a cute potato wheel cracker, and the Kacang Puteh with Kyoto Matcha, which combines a deep green matcha madeleine with a colourful sprinkle of assorted nuts and crackers.

Haw Flakes with Cranberry dons a vibrant reddish-pink hue and is decorated with haw flake pieces and sprinkles. Finally, Popping Candy (Magic Dust) with Earl Grey is the most intriguing to me, with its elegant yet fun elements.

Vanda Patisserie’s “Don’t Say Bo Jio” Madeleines Box will be available for order online for a limited period from 1 to 13 August 2022. What better way to celebrate this year’s National Day than with a stunning box of Singaporean-inspired madeleines?
