Van Gogh’s gun sells for triple its estimated price
What has been hailed as the “most famous weapon in the history of art” - the revolver that was allegedly used by Vincent Van Gogh to kill himself - is sold for nearly three times its estimate at €162,500 (approximately SGD$249,000). The Lefaucheux revolver is partially rusted away, and was bought by a private collector via a telephone bid at the Paris auction. The Van Gogh Institute has condemned the sale in an official statement.

Ralph Lauren knighted for his services to fashion
Ralph Lauren received an honorary knighthood from the British Crown for his services to fashion, making the 79-year-old the first American designer in history to ever be awarded with the UK’s highest honour. Lauren, who received the insignia from Prince Charles at a private ceremony held at Buckingham Palace, has in the past dressed numerous members of the royal family, and is estimated by Forbes to be worth over £5.2billion.
Net-a-Porter launches new sustainable fashion platform
Net Sustain was unveiled by Net-a-Porter to be its sustainable fashion platform under the larger brand, built to serve consumers who are looking for ethically made clothes and accessories. Shoppers can browse their selections based on locally made pieces, sustainable materials, pieces linked to recycling or upcycling, or fair trade, and more. All 26 brands currently displayed on the site have been vetted through a thorough process to the luxury site says.
Farfetch hopes Facebook’s Libra solves fashion ecommerce issues
When Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg announced the creation of Libra and its mission to simplify global financial infrastructures using blockchain technology, he also revealed the 27 organisations that were already onboard from the get go, with luxury e-commerce retailer Farfetch one of them. E-commerce companies pay higher rates for “card not present” situation in payment processing, so Farfetch projects that Libra will “help solve a range of fashion industry issues.”
