Upside-down jeans make absolutely no sense – but people are weirdly into them

Forget Netflix, following denim trends has become our new favourite form of entertainment.

In the last year alone, we’ve seen zip-up jeans, extreme cut-outs, suspender jeans and ridiculously long denim buzzed about in the press and across social media.

Some have been roaring successes (hey extreme rips) while others have fallen on their face (there is no place for you here, lace-up jeans).

You’d have thought brands were running out of ways to make their denim stand out from the crowd, but apparently not.

Upside down jeans anyone?

New York-based vintage shop CIE, has turned denim on its head – quite literally – by selling upside down jeans.

Where normal incarnations feature pockets, belt holes and seams at the waist, in Cie’s version you’ll find them flipped upside-down and sitting at the bottom.

The one-of-a-kind designs come in shorts, which cost £290, or full-length jeans, costing £377.

Where many of the aforementioned denim trends have been critiqued online, upside-down jeans seem to be capturing the public’s imagination.

And by that we mean they’ve haven’t attracted the same barrage of hate as some of the others…

Of course, some people took issue with the impracticality of the jeans, and in particular the pockets…

It’s worth noting, while the pockets do look as if they’re upside down, the jeans do feature functioning in-built pockets that will actually hold your keys.

Cie Denim’s creative director, Kelcie Schofield, told INSIDER: “The upside-down concept was designed to have the familiarity of the classic denim jean we all know and love but with a modern twist.”

Unpopular opinion: upside-down jeans aren’t *that* awful.
