How to Upgrade Your Harley Quinn Costume

From Cosmopolitan

If you’re like literally everyone else this Halloween, you want to dress up like Harley Quinn. No judgment. But you’re going to need to add a little something extra to your look if you want to stand out from the crowd.

You’ve probably already got the red and blue bomber jacket, matching short shorts, wig (or at least some temporary hair dye that’s pink and blue), and a white T-shirt. Watch the video below and follow the steps to take your look to the next level - sparkles, puff paint, and temporary tats, to follow, y’all.

THE TOP

WHAT YOU NEED:

HOW TO:

1. Print out “Daddy’s Little Monster” (the slogan Harley wears on her shirt throughout the film) on computer paper.

2. With the printed message facedown, trace over the letters with black puffy paint.

3. Press the paint onto the front of your T-shirt and smooth.

4. Fill in any gaps that didn’t transfer from the paper with more puff paint.

5. Spray red fabric paint softly over the top of your shirt.

6. Cut some “distressed” holes into the bottom of the shirt.

THE BELT

WHAT YOU NEED:

HOW TO:

1. Grab a thick elastic belt that attaches with a clasp.

2. Poke the various sizes of metal stud fasteners through the belt and use the side of a pair of scissors to secure.

3. Bend two gold pipe cleaners in half twice (this creates a sharper angle).

4. Hot glue the pipe cleaners near the clasp of the belt, framing the center like this: <|>.

5. Add extra glitz by hot gluing an extra upper case “I” sticker on the inside of each of the pipe cleaner triangles.

THE CHOKER

WHAT YOU NEED:

HOW TO:

1. Take a spool of plain white cloth ribbon and cut it so it fits snuggly (but not too snuggly!) around your neck.

2. Evenly space gold letter stickers that spell out “Puddin” along the front of the ribbon and hot glue to secure.

3. Take a small strip of Velcro and hot glue it to the end of the ribbon so you can wear it.

THE BAT

WHAT YOU NEED:

HOW TO:

1. Apply Suicide Squad temporary tattoos with water and a paper towel all along the bat

2. Along one side, write out “Goodnight” with glittery red stickers from the craft store.

The final touch? Work those shorts and swing that bat (and maybe leave the homicidal maniac thing to Margot Robbie...)
