An Unusual 'Yellowstone' Casting Call Sheet Has Fans Going Wild

·4-min read
  • Viewers have been eagerly awaiting season 4 of Yellowstone since season 3 ended with major cliffhangers on August 23, 2020.

  • A season 4 casting call looking for baby actors to join the show has caused fans to speculate on who the babies might belong to.

Yellowstone fans have had plenty to obsess over since the jaw-dropping season 4 finale. The lives of three of the main characters — John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and two of his children, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) — hang in the balance after separate violent attacks, and many are wondering if his other son, Jamie, is responsible. While fans are (not so) patiently awaiting the new episodes, they're rewatching the first three seasons and taking to the internet to find clues about the show and discuss theories.

One particularly diligent Yellowstone fan unearthed a season 4 casting call sheet and posted it on Reddit. The sheet, which was apparently listed on KidsCasting.com last year, calls for twins ages 0-6 months to only film for a few days.

Of course, this news had viewers speculating over who these tiny additions to the cast could be. It's important to note that while there could be twins in season 4, it's more likely that the show is casting two babies to play one part, as is often done for small children in TV shows and movies (think of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in Full House!).

Could it be Jamie's baby?

The most popular theory is that the baby is linked to Jamie (Wes Bentley). At the end of season 2, it was revealed that Jamie's assistant and on-again/off-again girlfriend Christina (Katherine Cunningham) was pregnant. But, as fans pointed out, this development was never addressed in season 3. In fact, Christina and the baby were never even mentioned. Fans are speculating that these babies could be filling that season 3 plot hole.

One user on Reddit said, "Wow, interesting! I wonder if that's Christina's baby? It seemed like the writers dropped that storyline or just forgot about it."

A baby would certainly complicate things for Jamie. Actor Wes Bentley said of his character during the show's Behind the Story, "I think Jamie had resigned himself to being single for the rest of his life and that's just the way it was going to be because of commitment to the family. So, the idea of a kid, I don't even think he can put that together in the moment, except that he knows immediately that kid might be in danger."

Could the baby be a part of a flashback scene?

Yellowstone regularly relies on flashbacks to fill in the details of the characters' backstories, and a baby could certainly be part of a flashback scene. One Reddit user says, "It would almost have to be a flashback baby or something similar, as they're only needed for 3 days of shooting." Another chimed in on Reddit, "This baby might also be a part of a flashback too. It could be Jamie as an infant." If that's the case, it could be just about any of the cast members as an infant.

Could it be Beth and Rip's baby?

Loyal fans of the show will remember that Jamie had his sister sterilized without her consent when they were younger, causing a painful rift between the siblings, but some viewers are holding out hope that the baby belongs to favorite couple Beth and Rip.

On Kelly Reilly's recent Instagram post, viewers began to speculate that the baby could be Beth's. One commenter said, "I think Beth has softened a lot since the beginning of the show...and having a baby would bring out a whole new side of Beth we haven’t seen. Character evolution."

It may seem far-fetched, but Yellowstone has always been full of unexpected twists and turns. One fan chimed in that seeing Jamie with a baby would be incredibly difficult for his sister: "That's going to be some serious knife twisting pain for Beth when she sees Jamie with his kid. Wow."

Hopefully, season 4 will premier soon so we can find out the truth!
