Riders and their pets will soon be able to call for pet-friendly Uber rides around Singapore when the service launches on Friday (20 October).

Singapore is the first city in Asian to launch the uberPET service, said a statement from Uber on 19 October. Uber cited the growing demand for pet-related services in Singapore as pet ownership grows.

“We’ve heard feedback from riders that it can be a challenge to get a ride with their pet, as certain modes of transport do not allow animals to travel on board. In addition, we understand there are situations where drivers are not comfortable ferrying animals,” said Uber.

All UberX driver-partners on uberPET have willingly opted into the programme and are comfortable to have pets on their ride, said Uber.

uberPET trips are priced the same as UberX, but with a $2 booking fee. To celebrate the launch of the service Uber will waive the $2 booking fee until 31 December 2017. No promo code is necessary.
