Two Malaysians nominated for MTV's Best Southeast Asia act

Two Malaysian artistes are now in the running for the highly-coveted title of MTV EMAs' Best Southeast Asia act, along with five other tough competitors from the region.

The Malaysian nominees for the category are none other than pop punk trio, Bunkface as well as international singer-songwriter, Yuna, whose song recently featured in "Grey's Anatomy" series.

Competing with them are; Thai hip hop music group Thaitanium, Filipino songbird Sarah Geronimo, Singaporean crooner Gentle Bones, and Vietnamese pop star Ðông Nhi.

This is the first time that Bunkface is nominated for the prestigious award, while it is the second time for Yuna, as previously, she was also nominated for the category in 2014, but that year, the award went to Sara Geronimo.

Malaysia is the only country which has two representatives for the category.

The annual MTV Europe Music Award 2016 will take place at the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 6 November 2016.

Last year, Vietnamese singer Son Tung M-TP was named MTV EMAs' Best Southeast Asia Act.
