Two "Crazy Rich Asians" sequels to film back-to-back

Updates on the sequels were shared by the producers of the Golden Globe-nominated movie

Yup Awkwafina, there are two sequels coming up for "Crazy Rich Asians".

8 Dec – Back in August, there were talks of "Crazy Rich Asians" getting a sequel with director Jon M. Chu returning to helm, though back then it wasn't greenlit by the studio yet.

Well, good news "Crazy" fans, you're getting that sequel – not only that, you're getting two sequels!

"We'll make it up to them on the back end," said producer Nina Jacobson, as quoted by Deadline, "by shooting two films together."

The producer was alluding to the fact that the sequels will not be filming anytime soon as Chu is currently working on the movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony Award-winning first musical, "In the Heights".

Most likely, Chu can only start filming the "Crazy Rich Asians" follow-ups in 2020.

Not that his main cast is readily available at the moment anyway since Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh will be both be busy filming the Paul Feig-directed "Last Christmas" while Constance Wu is busy with her lead role in TV's "Fresh off the Boat".

On the award front, the movie has just been nominated in two Golden Globes categories. "Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy" for the movie itself and "Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical" for Wu who stars as Rachel Chu in the movie.
