Twitter Is Buzzing About ‘Emily in Paris’ Getting a Second Season
Netflix
On November 11th, Netflix announced that its polarizing series Emily in Paris will get a second season. The cheeky show starring Lily Collins as a naive American trying to get a grip on Parisian culture while embarrassing herself along the way became a hotly debated topic on Twitter from which two opposite camps emerged: those who adoré and those who détesté Emily and her antics.
So, needless to say, upon hearing the news that Emily will be returning for season two, Twitter popped off like the cork of a good Champagne from Camille's family winery. Sorry...
Netflix announced Emily in Paris's renewal with note penned on Savoir stationary. It's written by Emily's boss in France, Sylvie (played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), addressed to her boss in Chicago. In the letter, Sylvie writes that Emily "will need to remain in Paris for an extended period of time."
"Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir," Sylvie continues. "Call it bonne chance, or American ingenuity—I'm leaning towards the former—her results are impressive."
Sylvie writes she hopes by Emily extending her stay she will be able to "delve deeper into French culture" and "pick up a few words of basic French."

The also then reunited remotely to sound off that "deux is always better than un." Collins even donned one of her berets for the occasion.

And though we all not-so-secretly wanted this renewal, everyone on Twitter got real busy trying to pretend as though they were outraged.
I’m a black gay guy and I can personally say that *WATCHING EMILY IN PARIS* did nothing for me, my life only changed a little bit and it was for the worse.

The old saying "all press is good press" applies heavily to this situation. Whether you were hate tweeting, or love tweeting, all tweets are equal in the eyes of Netflix.

People who hate-watched every episode of Emily in Paris: "How is it getting renewed for another season when [insert title of less talked-about Netflix show here] was not?"
— Guy Lodge (@GuyLodge) November 11, 2020

Hey, no matter which side of the line you stand on, we can all agree that Camille deserves justice at the end of the day. That alone makes this Emily in Paris second seasons news of the good variety.
