Anyone with eyes, internet access, and a passing interest in anything viscerally unsettling saw @Tweezist, an Instagram account ferociously dedicated to the plucking of ingrown hairs, go viral this week. Via email, Queen Tweezy told me a little bit about who she is, why her account blew up, and the secret is to growing a following when your content is ... gross.

Tweezist is from, living in, and 'gramming from Seoul, South Korea. She's always had a vested interest in tweezing ingrown hairs because she's prone to them. She bought a USB microscope to do her own dirty work, showed her friends what she was up to, "their reactions were really fun so I just started upload [videos to Instagram] for fun," and 108,000 followers later, here we are.

She herself enjoys a good under-the-scab tweezing hair hunt. Plucking an ingrown hair out from under one for the first time was an incredible feeling, she writes: "It [felt] like I was a gold miner." Now, she sticks to posting videos that fall in the "relieving" and "satisfying" categories as opposed to the "disgusting" ones.

In fact, that's the key to her growth (lol bye). "Other popping cyst, blackhead, pimple vids are little hard to watch and it's too much ... real. Of course, my vids are totally real but the view [from the] microscope [makes them easier] to watch than other medical videos," she explains.

Tweezalicious has people slide into her DMs constantly, she says. Most of them want individualized help with their hairy problems (she's "thankful" for them, so go ahead!). Others want to know what tools she's using to care for herself (they're only available in Korea, "never [sold] abroad, never exported," so don't even try!).

Some, like, IDK, me, just want to ask why. Til next time, Tweetie.
