TWC/Dimension Moves Robert De Niro Comedy ‘War With Grandpa’ To October, Sets ‘Polaroid’ For Summer

TWC/Dimension has moved the Robert De Niro comedy War With Grandpa to October 20, 2017, six months later than the planned April 21 wide release. The shift was announced by TWC/Dimension today, along with the August 25 wide release date for horror pic Polaroid, from director Lars Klevberg.

War With Grandpa, directed by Tim Hill, is an adaptation of Robert Kimmel Smith’s novel, with De Niro playing a grandfather who takes over the room of his young grandson, becoming the target of the kid’s practical jokes. Christopher Walken and Marisa Tomei co-star. Marro Films is producing and financing, with Lisa Addario, Joe Syracuse, Matt Ember and Tom Astle adapting the book. Producers are Marvin Peart, Rosa Morris-Peart and Phillip Glasser.

Other wide releases that have staked out that late October date: Universal’s horror pic Insidious Chapter 4, Warner Bros’ actioner Geostorm and Fox’s drama The Mountain Between Us.

Klevberg’s Polaroid, written by Blair Butler, focuses on a series of mysterious teen deaths and an old Polaroid camera with a secret, evil history: The kids start turning up dead after being photographed.

Polaroid is from producer Roy Lee, executive producer of The Ring and The Grudge.
