TVB denies dismantling TVBuddy from entrance of building

22 Oct – TVB has recently dismissed rumours that it has been forced to take down its mascot TVBuddy from its building in Tseung Kwan O.

As reported on Mingpao, rumours of the figure - that was erected at the entrance of the building - being dismantled by the company sparked after netizens shared photos of a group of workers on a boom lift removing the antennas of the said statue.

It is noted that a Facebook page using the name "Professional Liquidator" previously vowed to dismantle TVBuddy, saying that it was an illegal structure and has violated building regulations, despite the fact that it has been there for many years.

The page added that it has also filed a complaint to the Hong Kong's Building Department.

However, when asked about the issue pertaining to TVBuddy, the company stressed that it did not dismantle its mascot, and that the previously seen workers were only doing a routine cleaning job.

It was also reported that TVB has already spoken to the Building Department and will build a stable iron frame around the statue to ensure safety following a previous complaint.
