TVB to make adjustments to casting decision

26 Aug – TVB is finally addressing rumours concerning some of its artistes who have reportedly angered its mainland viewers.

As reported on Mingpao, following reports that stars like Ali Lee, Kristal Tin, and Kaki Leung are being "frozen" by the company due to their alleged support for the anti-extradition bill protests, the company's Communication Department recently released a statement to the media to clarify the situation.

The statement read, "Following the recent series of violent clashes in Hong Kong, some mainland audience may be particularly concerned about certain artistes, who may trigger their sensitivity. Since some of TVB series and programmes are shown in the mainland, the company therefore needs to make some adjustments in its operations in reaction to these responses, including matters concerning casting."

The company also added that the decision is purely business rather than personal.

Despite the ongoing rumours, it is noted that TVB will continue to broadcast some of its dramas starring these actors. Kristal Tin's new drama, "Girlie Days", is currently airing while Ali Lee continues to shoot her new series, "Amelia's Rhapsody". As for Pakho Chau, who was accused of supporting Hong Kong protesters just for reminding fans to register to vote, the singer's new drama, "Wonder Woman", will air sometime in October.
