While US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are busy preparing for their eagerly anticipated summit in Singapore next Tuesday (12 June), local food and beverage establishments are doing their small part to promote peace by unveiling special promotions to commemorate the historical event.

Royal Plaza on Scotts has introduced its “Trump-Kim Burger” and “Summit Iced Tea” priced at $12++ and $6++, respectively, to mark the red-letter day. Combining Korean and American elements, the burger is made up of minced chicken and kimchi patty, seaweed, Korean rice rolls and fries while the tea is flavoured with Korean honey yuzu.

The promotion will be on from 8 to 15 June 2018 at the Scotts Lounge.

Over at Bar-Roque Grill in Tanjong Pagar Road, the bar has concocted two cocktails for the occasion, Bourbon Old Fashion and Soju Mojitos at $12++ each, and is calling the promotion from 11 to 15 June as its “peacekeeping efforts”.

Stephane Istel, chef-owner of Bar-Roque, told Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore, “It is to bring a bit of happiness and fun around politics. Bar-Roque is all about family, good food, peace and positive vibes. We are here to serve you and have a party with us.”

Lucha Loco has dubbed its summit promotion as the “Loco Taco Summit” with two specialty Korean and Americano tacos at $10++ each. Every “el presidente taco” purchase entitles you to enter a nightly draw to smash the custom-made Trump-Kim piñatas. The Mexican restaurant in Duxton Hill is running its promotion from 4 to 16 June.

Escobar in China Square Central last Friday launched its “Trump” and “Kim” cocktails at $12.60 nett plus the “Trump vs Kim challenge” involving a game of scissors-paper-stone over 20 shots at $60. The promotion will run until the day that Trump and Kim leave Singapore, said Stan Sri Ganesh, owner of Escobar.
