Trump to CBS’ John Dickerson: ‘I Love Your Show…I Call It ‘Deface the Nation” (Video)

Donald Trump’s open feud with the media took an “in your face” turn on Sunday’s “Face the Nation,” where he mocked the show directly to its host, John Dickerson.

During the wide-ranging interview which included questions on healthcare and increasing tensions with North Korea, Dickerson asked Trump about his statements from previous interviews where he said he thought being president “would be easier.” After a meandering response, Trump took his opportunity to take another shot at the press.

“You know it’s very funny when the fake media goes out – which we call the mainstream media – which sometimes, I must say, is you,” Trump said. Dickerson grinned and asked, “You mean me personally?”

“I love your show,” Trump responded. “I call it ‘Deface the Nation.’ But, you know, your show is sometimes not exactly correct.”

Trump was referencing an interview he gave to the Associated Press last week in which he called the CBS show “Deface the Nation” while boasting about how his presence on news programs leads to a ratings boost. In the case of “Face the Nation,” he said he gave the show its highest ratings since the Sept. 11 attacks.

“The fake media is not all of the media,” he went on to say in that interview. “The fake media is some of you. I could tell you who it is, 100 percent. Sometimes you’re fake, but — but the fake media is some of the media. It bears no relationship to the truth. It’s not that Fox treats me well, it’s that Fox is the most accurate.”
