‘True Blood’ Creator Alan Ball Lists Hilltop Hideaway in Ojai (EXCLUSIVE)

Oscar- and Emmy-winning “American Beauty” and “True Blood” writer/producer Alan Ball wants to lighten his residential load, and has his spectacularly private, 40-plus-acre hilltop hideaway in Ojai, Calif., up for grabs with an asking price just a sliver short of $5.9 million. Property records indicate that the three-parcel estate, with panoramic, bird’s-eye views over the Ojai Valley, last changed hands in June 2011 for $3.34 million.

The two-story Tuscan-style villa, built in 1960 but extensively remodeled and upgraded, measures in at just over 4,300 square feet, with three en suite bedrooms and four bathrooms. The master suite, with a vaulted and wood-beamed ceiling, has a separate dressing room and a private balcony.

The solar-powered spread additionally provides a separate two-room office/studio, a finished garage, a covered dog run, a four-stall horse barn, and a super-sized aviary — not exactly surprising, as Ball and his Beirut-born partner, actor/producer Peter Macdissi, collect exotic birds.

Back in Los Angeles, where in late 2014 Ball and Macdissi coughed up almost $11.1 million for a 10-plus-acre Hollywood Hills compound bought from Sheryl Crow, the pair continue to own a secluded 1.15-acre estate near the top of Nichols Canyon that was listed for sale earlier this year at $8.5 million and is currently listed as a luxury lease at $30,000 per month.
