YouTuber, popstar, and LGBTQ activist Troye Sivan has become the youngest recipient of GLAAD‘s Stephen F. Kolzak Award, and we think it’s totally deserved.

Known firstly for his confessional YouTube videos where he broached topics of sexuality and and safe sex, Troye Sivan quickly proved that he was also an incredible and outspoken popstar, too, with the release of his debut album Blue Neighbourhood. The singer has since used his platform to help forge forward for LGBTQ rights, while using things like music videos to remind people of the ongoing struggles faced by marginalized groups in society (while hitting us right in the feels, too).

Well , it’s now been announced that Troye Sivan is to receive GLAAD’s Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, making him, at 21 years old, the youngest person to receive the honor.

As Entertainment Tonight point out, the Stephen F. Kolzak Award is only bestowed upon individuals that have made “a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance.”

Previous recipients of the award include Laverne Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Ruby Rose, Chaz Bono, Melissa Etheridge, and Sir Ian McKellen, so Mr. Sivan is in some pretty FABULOUS company!

Speaking about the decision to give him the award, Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President and CEO, said that Troye “embodies a generation of LGBTQ youth who are unapologetic, outspoken, and proud to be who they are.”

“He has quickly become a leading voice of his generation and sends a message of hope and empowerment with every song, music video, and social post,” she added.

After hearing the news, Troye took to Twitter to express his joy at being awarded.

“This eclipses all – could not be more shook & proud. See you at the @glaad awards!!! I’m giving a speech hehe ️‍❤️,”

Troye Sivan will also join the likes of Victoria Justice, Gigi Gorgeous, Hannah Hart, Alexandra Grey, Harmony Santana, and Isabella Gomez at GLAAD’s Inaugural Rising Stars Grants Luncheon, where they’ll be giving out grants to LGBTQ students.

Meanwhile, the GLAAD Media Awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California, on April 1st.
