From the capitals of India, Thailand, Korea, and Vietnam, to cultural destinations like Siem Reap in Cambodia, Travel + Leisure readers delighted in opportunities for culinary exploration and cultural discoveries. Cosseting hotels are a great cure for jetlag, but it was the people running them, they said, who made these properties feel like home away from home, many time zones removed.

How Voting Works

Every year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 186,000 T+L readers completed the 2024 survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).

Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:

  • Rooms/facilities

  • Location

  • Service

  • Food

  • Value

For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

What Readers Loved

In some of the biggest, most dynamic cities in the world, T+L readers called out their favorite hotels in Asia for their personal touches. In India, one reader saluted the staff of the Taj Lands End, Mumbai (No. 8) saying, “it’s my second home.” On its heels at No. 9, The Leela Palace New Delhi made one reader feel “more like their family than another ‘guest.’”

Unlike 2023 when South Korea was left off the list, readers showed a lot of love for Seoul hotels, which grabbed three spots — Signiel Seoul (No. 11), Four Seasons Hotel Seoul (No. 12), and JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul (No. 15). There and at foodie destinations like the Regent Hong Kong (No. 2) — home to the two-Michelin-starred Lai Ching Heen — readers praised hotels with great culinary programs. “Love the food,” raved a fan of the Rosewood Phnom Penh (No. 3), home to six dining venues including a rooftop terrace with the city’s best views.

With a near-perfect score, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap topped the competitive category this year for doing just about everything right.

Khmer style and gracious service have earned the Park Hyatt Siem Reap top honors this year in a field of high scorers. After a day exploring the 12th-century temple complex of Angkor Wat, guests appreciated the hotel’s tranquil, garden-set pools and herbal compress massages. Whether it's Vespa scooter rides in the countryside, or culinary classes that begin by sourcing ingredients at the local market, immersive experiences distinguish Park Hyatt programming. One voter called it the “best hotel in Siem Reap,” with “lovely and authentic hospitality, consistent service and friendly staff.” Another reader rated it not just tops locally but, “The best hotel in Cambodia.”
