23 Jun – Tony Leung Chiu Wai recently admitted that one of the reasons why he decided to take the offer to do his new movie, "When the Wind Blows", was because of director Philip Yung.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared at the press conference of the said movie at the Shanghai International Film Festival, revealed that he loved Philip's directorial debut "Port of Call" so much that it convinced him to do the movie.
"But it was stressful at first since I needed to do the impossible – play the piano on camera. I had to play three songs, and one of them was very fast and I couldn't play that fast at first," he said.
Tony stated that he ended up asking the crew to put a piano on set so he could practice during his breaks.
Philip chimed in, jokingly adding that Tony scolded him every night for making him play the piano.
"But I was impressed. In one of the scenes, Tony played the piano as Aaron [Kwok] danced. We realised how precise it was in post-production. He was highly demanding of himself and practiced the piano for three months. He would play eight to ten hours every day," said the director.
