Tom Holland has revealed that he’d one day like to play James Bond.

The 24-year-old, who is currently portraying Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, admitted as much during his recent interview with Variety to promote his upcoming Apple TV+ drama Cherry.

After teasing that he has “two roles coming up” over the next few years that he’s “really excited about,” but he’s unable to “talk about them yet,” Holland then declared, “I mean, ultimately, as a young British lad who loves cinema, I’d love to be James Bond. So, you know, I’m just putting that out there. I look pretty good in a suit."

But, as well as one day becoming 007, Holland has many, many other plans for his career. Most notably, he really wants to star alongside Dame Maggie Smith. Holland even went as far as to say that he loves her because she’s so “English and just seems so sweet.”

Holland then took this opportunity to open up about his hopes to one day step behind the camera, insisting that becoming a director is an itch that he’s been “trying to scratch” for a while.

Tom has already been collaborating on a script with his younger brother Harry, too. “We managed to acquire the rights to a book series that we loved as kids. So we’ve been sort of chipping away at that.”

Rather than rushing, though, Holland says that they’re taking their time with it because he believes it has the potential to be “quite powerful,” before adding, “Hopefully, within the next five years, you’ll see Harry and I sitting in the director’s chairs shouting action.”
