Tom Hardy Reportedly Set For Star Wars 8 Stormtrooper Cameo

Daniel Craig’s cameo in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is one of the best easter eggs in the film, and it looks like another Brit is set for a similarly fun role in 'Episode 8’.

According to reports, 'Mad Max: Fury Road’ star Tom Hardy has donned a stormtrooper costume and filmed a cameo alongside John Boyega’s Finn in the next 'Star Wars’ adventure.

Making Star Wars reports that in the short scene Hardy plays a First Order trooper who recognises former stormtrooper Finn while the latter is on a mission for the Resistance.

Hardy’s character walks up to Finn and gets his attention. Turning around, Boyega’s character believes he’s been recognised as a traitor, but instead Hardy’s stormtrooper is happy to see his old friend from their days back at the First Order academy.

Believing Finn to be a spy for the First Order, working under cover for the Resistance, Hardy congratulates him on his promotion and let’s him go about his business.

The cameo, if true, seems to be in the same spirit as that of Daniel Craig - who played the stormtrooper Jedi mind tricked by Daisy Ridley’s Rey.

In 'The Force Awakens’ a large number of famous and famous-ish friends of director JJ Abrams camoed under the guise of a stormtrooper. Hopefully that tradition continues as the new trilogy continues.

Director Rian Johnson is currently filmming 'Episode 8’ with returning stars Ridley, Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Drive, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Newcomers Benecio Del Toro and Laura Dern have also joined the cast.

The film is set to be released on 15 December 2017.
