“This is Hanks’ fifth time at the top of the list (with previous wins recorded in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2013),” they added, “and represents a four-spot jump from the No. 5 spot last year.”

But which other actors and actresses joined him in the top ten?

1. Tom Hanks
2. Johnny Depp
3. Denzel Washington
4. John Wayne
5. Harrison Ford
6. Sandra Bullock
7. Jennifer Lawrence
8. Clint Eastwood
9. Brad Pitt & Julia Roberts (tied)

Despite ranking at the top of the most-popular list, neither Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, nor Denzel Washington are up for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.

And let’s just say that John Wayne hasn’t made a film for quite some time…

Tom Hanks recently starred in the Steven Spielberg spy-thriller, ‘Bridge of Spies’ as James B. Donovan – the man in charge of negotiating the release of a US pilot in exchange for the captured KGB agent, Rudolf Abel.

Hanks returns to the big screen in 2016 in ‘Sully’, which the tells the story about the pilot who landed US Airways Flight 1249 in the Hudson River in January 2009, saving the lives of all 155 passengers.

Will Tom Hanks claim the top spot next year?
