Tom Brady’s mother was unable to attend a Patriots game all season long, but that changed on Super Bowl Sunday. Galynn Brady, who has been battling an undisclosed form of cancer, was in the stands as her son led his team to an astounding victory, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34-28.

Last night, Brady — who was voted Super Bowl MVP — dedicated the overtime win to his mom. “She’s my everything,” the quarterback told Westwood One. “I just love her so much. ”

Galynn, who is her son’s number one fan, has been undergoing chemo and radiation for 18 months. She has usually been a fixture at Boston’s Gillette Stadium, so her absence was felt by the whole organization. Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that he gave Tom a pep talk ahead of the big game.

“I spoke to [Tom] in the locker room before the game, and I said, ‘We gotta win this one for your mom,’ because I know how important his mom is,” Kraft told NESN. “She’s been going through chemotherapy and radiation, and this is the first game she’s been to. She came here, and I just saw her, and it was really cool.”

It wasn’t until midweek that doctors cleared Galynn to make the trip. “We weren’t sure we’d be able to come until Wednesday,” Tom Brady Sr. told MMQB. He added of his son’s comeback, “It was just awesome. … [Tom] puts everything he can into every single game. But this one, I heard he just said, ‘I’m winning this one for my mom.’ That one jerks the tear ducts big-time. … She lives and dies with every one of her children, whether it’s in a football game or anything else. And she was very thankful. Very thankful, yeah, just very thankful that this played out.”

On Monday morning, Tom Brady was still emotional after his win.

“It was great — she’s been through a lot — [it’s] way harder than what I’ve been through and way harder than what the team went through last night,” he said when asked what it meant to have his mom there. “My dad has been there every step of the way. They set such a great example for me.”

Brady continued, with tears in his eyes, “All families go though challenging times — she has a lot of support and a lot of love. I was just happy last night to be able to celebrate with her. She hadn’t been to a game all year, so this was a hell of a game for her to be at.”

It certainly was!

It takes a team. And so much love. #NeverStopBelieving
