The Tokyo Revengers anime is getting a second season, which will be adapted from the manga’s Christmas Showdown arc.
The anime, which premiered in Japan in April last year, follows the story of Takemichi Hanagaki, who suddenly discovers that he can travel through time. In order to save his ex-girlfriend from a tragic death, he alters the flow of time and rewrites the future.
There's no release date announced as of yet for the Christmas Showdown Arc, although it seems likely that it will come out sometime in 2022.
There was a controversy regarding Crunchyroll’s censorship of the Buddhist manji swastika (left-facing) symbol in the anime, due to its similarity to the Nazi swastika (right-facing) symbol. However, Muse Asia has released the uncensored versions on YouTube for Southeast Asian and South Asian audiences.
Nonetheless, Tokyo Revengers is still one of the most popular series recently, with its manga winning the 2020 Kodansha Manga Awards under the shonen (works targeted at teen males) category. It even has a live-action film adaptation, released in Japan in July.
Here's the trailer for the upcoming season of Tokyo Revengers:
