Tidying Up Star Marie Kondo Has Officially Been Nominated For an Emmy
Whoever said Marie Kondo was just an expert organizer was proven wrong today—the star known for her tidying up skills has just been nominated for an Emmy, and not just for her ability to spark joy. The reality show host has not only stolen our hearts, but our inability to throw things away—seriously—and has inspired a generation of tidy-uppers to tackle cleaning their homes in a new and more efficient way.
The organizing guru has officially been announced as a nominee for the category of Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program for her role on Netflix's Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, and we couldn't be more excited for the star.
Tidying Up With Marie Kondo premiered on the streaming giant over the 2018 holidays, and created an entire cultural phenomenon—people were binging their belongings to truly find what "sparks joy" in their lives, in the words of Kondo herself.
Back in 2015, when she was placed on Time's 100 Most Influential People list, Marie Kondo revealed m to Inc. the advice she received from her father that has kept her so humble—and this was before her big break with Netflix.
According to Marie, he said, "When you receive recognition from others for what you've accomplished, it is a reflection not only of your own efforts, but also those of the people who have supported you along the way."
Marie said that realization in the moment had shocked her.
"At that time, I had established a thriving business in tidying, had written a best-selling book, and was working internationally," the Tidying Up author said. "I felt I had done it all by myself—that I was capable on my own."
Here's to wishing the best of luck to Marie Kondo at this year's Emmys—and hoping everyone has better Tidying Up jokes this time than they did at the Oscars.
