Three members of popular K-pop group, EXO, Suho, Chanyeol and Sehun, dropped by Singapore for a short appearance at the Skechers ‘Sweet Monster’ K-pop dance competition on Saturday (10 June), held at Causeway Point.
The three members showed up at the end of the dance competition to present the top prize to the winners, Malaysia’s “Virus Ladies” dance team.
Nine-membered boyband EXO (sans Chinese member Lay) was last in Singapore in April for their “EXO PLANET #3: The EXO’rDIUM” concert, where they performed to a 8000-strong crowd.
Despite not performing any songs and lacking six other members, Suho, Chanyeol and Sehun drew more than 5,500 fans to the shopping mall, with floors one to four packed with fans who were armed with cameras with large telephoto lenses and foldable stools.
According to Skechers, some of the fans started queuing from 12.30am the night before, just to get a glimpse of the trio, who only appeared at around 6.30pm.
Since last year, EXO was named as ambassadors of the Skechers D-Lites 2 shoe line.
Just before their appearance, the trio greeted the media at a press conference.
When asked by Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore what they remembered most about their last time in Singapore, Sehun said, “I remember us eating lots of chilli crab and black pepper crab backstage before the concert.
“We really went crazy eating crabs,” he added with a laugh.
Other than crabs, Chanyeol also spoke about the sights they wanted to visit in Singapore.
“Every time we visit Singapore, we have always wanted to visit Marina Bay Sands. Last night, we went there and managed to see the night scenery from the top of the building. It was really beautiful. We hope to return with the rest of the members next time so we can enjoy the view together,” he said.
As for their upcoming plans, EXO’s leader Suho said, “We are currently preparing for our next album and will be releasing it really soon. We are already planning for another world tour and wish to return to Singapore again. Please wait for us, we will be back.”
