Thor’s Flatmate Darryl Could Appear In Thor: Ragnarok

After Marvel’s ‘Civil War: Team Thor’ mockumentary showed the Norse God getting a flatmate, Darryl, director Taika Waititi says we may see more of him in the upcoming instalment.

Speaking to IGN about Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) new roomie, Waititi, the helmer of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, revealed what Thor got up to while ‘Civil War’ was happening and about Darryl’s place in the MCU.

“Thor briefly rented a room in a flat in Australia after the Ultron debacle. Just to get some downtime – to get away from The Avengers, to get away from America. So he had a little downtime in Australian. And he met this guy Darryl and they shared a flat together. So that’s Darryl.”

Whether or not Waititi was intentionally misleading the conversation, he actually hinted that Darryl would play a part in Marvel’s future, which is kinda cool and amusing, considering how he was so playfully introduced.

“I think you probably could see him again,” the director teased. “There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing.”

Not only are we now to assume Thor’s flatmate will have some role in the MCU’s future, there’s a good chance it’ll be in ‘Ragnarok’.

He left it as a vague hint but was even more illusive when asked about plot specifics.

“OK. A thing that will definitely not happen is…oh man, if I say anything, it might hint at something else. I have to really watch my words nowadays. This is a topic I should really avoid. OK, one thing you can get from me, not being in Thor, is any of our vampire characters and werewolf characters from the other Taika and Jemaine universe. You won’t see any of that.”

As per the Disney/Marvel way, very little is revealed regarding the movie’s plot and any possible spoilers - which is how the movie world should be! The likelihood is Darryl won’t be making any waves in terms of determining the fate of Asgard or The Avengers, yet a cheeky nod to his character would be pretty fun.

Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins return, joining new additions like Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, and Karl Urban.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is in UK cinemas on 27 October, 2017.
