Sure, all our perfume bottles arranged on a dressing table do look lovely. Plus, considering their sky-high price tags, they deserve to be on show.
But have you ever wondered where the best place to store your perfume is?
Well, Marj Knitowski, a senior product developer at Victoria’s Secret Beauty has revealed the best way to keep fragrances fresh - and make them last longer.
So, make some space in your fridge because apparently that’s where we should all be storing our favourite scents. Next to the milk, takeout leftovers and wine should sit our Chanel No.5.
Knitowski told Bryrdie, “Store it in a cool, unlit space, like a refrigerator” explaining that this simple hack can “make the fragrance last up two years longer.”
The science behind it is pretty simple. Like a lot of beauty products, fragrances shouldn’t really be exposed to sunlight as the heat can make them lose their intensity and can even lead to them evaporating. Definitely something we all want to avoid.
But if you’re really against the idea of your Marc Jacobs Daisy sitting alongside the eggs, there is an alternative. “Cover with aluminum foil and keep in a dark, cool place like a cabinet,” says Knitowski. Okay, so it’s not the most Instagrammable way of storing them but hey, at least we will be smelling blooming lovely for a little longer.
