Colouring is often a pastime associated with kids but there’s been an influx of adult colouring books in the market too, over the years.

According to a study published in a 2011 issue of the journal Art Therapy, colouring intricate patterns can help reduce anxiety. Researchers from Knox College had 84 college students think about an anxiety-producing situation, and asked them to colour either a mandala, a plaid pattern or a black piece of paper.

The study found that students who were colouring the mandalas and plaid patterns “experienced more reduction in anxiety than did the unstructured colouring group,” which suggested that “structured colouring of a reasonably complex geometric pattern may induce a meditative state that benefits individuals suffering from anxiety.”

With most of us working from home, and awaiting the easing of lockdown measures, we think a colouring pack might be just what you need to help you chill out.

Yahoo’s printable PDF colouring sheets detail three themes in three pages: animals in a zoo; take a ‘safecation’ when traveling is allowed; and feast with your loved ones and family.

Save the images to your phone and upload it to your Instagram Story to colour (tag us @yahoosg), or print the colouring pictures and break out your favourite paint colours and pens to make them pop.
