The Stars of 'Daddy's Home' Have Very Different Approaches to Disciplining Their Kids

The stars of the hit comedy Daddy’s Home, which made a very solid $40 million in its opening weekend (just behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens), spoke with Yahoo Movies earlier this month about their own child-rearing philosophies. Will Ferrell — who plays a dopey stepdad to Mark Wahlberg’s badass biological father in the movie — jokingly embraced the age-old tactic of spanking. Appropriately for their characters in the film, his costar Wahlberg did not find Ferrell’s threats all that intimidating. (Watch the video above.)

Hannibal Buress — who plays Ferrell’s character’s friend in the movie — joked that while it might be tempting to spank his future kids, their access to social media would put the kibosh on any sort of physical discipline he might dole out. Instead, it’d be all about the psychological warfare — which, coming from a comedian, may be even scarier.
