SINGAPORE — Jonathan Chua of local band The Sam Willows married his fiancée, TV host Amanda Chaang, in a wedding ceremony at the Fullerton Bay Hotel on Saturday (15 July).

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Chua wrote, “Last night is a night I definitely would remember for the rest of my life. Thank you Amanda Chaang for marrying me.”

He posted photos from his wedding, a couple of which featured a stunning backdrop courtesy of the fireworks from a National Day Parade rehearsal. The singer even thanked the Singapore government for providing the pyrotechnic display.

The Sam Willows, which comprises Jonathan Chua, Benjamin Kheng, Narelle Kheng and Sandra Riley Tang, was formed in 2012 and became one of the most popular pop bands in Singapore.

Benjamin Kheng, who was one of Chua’s groomsmen, also posted photos and videos of himself at the wedding, crooning to the Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way, dancing and horsing around with the groom.

Chaang is an anchorwoman for Malaysian satellite sports channel, Astro Supersport. Chua and Chaang, both 29, had been engaged since he proposed to her in New York in December 2017. The pair got married officially in June 2018, but it wasn’t until this past weekend that they had their wedding ceremony and dinner.

Chua launched his own record label, Zendyll Records, at the end of last year. The Sam Willows announced in May that they were taking a hiatus as individual members pursued their own projects.
