The Queen gifts Kate Middleton with huge honour on wedding anniversary

It may have been her eighth wedding anniversary yesterday, but it wasn’t the only thing Kate Middleton was celebrating, after she was given a very special gift from the Queen herself.

The Queen honoured the Duchess of Cambridge by gifting her with a new title.

Kate Middleton can now add ‘Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order’ to her title.

The Royal Victorian Order awards are made personally by the Queen for services to the Sovereign.

“The Queen has been pleased to make the following appointment to the Royal Victorian Order,” a press release from the palace read.

“To be a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) - HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.”

Kate isn’t the only member of the family to be given the title, as the Queen has previously gifted it to her sons, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, her grandson Prince Harry and daughter-in-law Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen famously awarded Prince Philip with a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in 2017, on their 70th wedding anniversary.

The announcement comes just before the service of the order, which will reportedly be held on May 3 at Windsor Castle.
