The Must-Have Item From NYFW is...The Windbreaker?!

It’s day six of New York Fashion Week, and already we’re seeing windbreakers, of all things, showing up on multiple runways — and in this world, repetition means trending!

The humble windbreaker may seem like an unlikely high-fashion trend, but we’ve already seen sweatpants trend among the style set, then sweatshirts, followed by oversized hoodies. Now, vintage-style bright windbreakers — yep, the same kind you were forced to wear on school trips in the ‘80s — are in the spotlight.

Dion Lee’s straight-up version is paired very effortlessly with a metallic-stripe skirt, Alexander Wang’s version is sexy, deconstructed, and off-shoulder, while Hood by Air — one of the week’s most controversial shows — gave us a translucent blue windbreaker with matching plastic pants. Mark our words: The hot new spring jacket is here!
