'The Lion King' debuts eight new character posters

With Aladdin, Dumbo, and Avengers: Endgame already in cinemas, Disney’s assault on your cinemagoing funds continues apace with the forthcoming release of The Lion King on 19 July.

The Jungle Book’s Jon Favreau has directed the new live action (or, to be pedantic, photorealistic CGI) remake of the iconic 1994 animation, and has recruited an all-star cast to do the voices. From Beyonce and Donald Glover, to John Oliver and Seth Rogen, every role has a killer voice behind it, including James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.

Click through the slideshow to get a closer look at the incredibly lifelike CGI work, done by UK visual effects house MPC, to bring the characters to (the circle of) life.

The Lion King is in cinemas from 19 July.
