It’s official – ‘The Dark Tower’ has its first poster.

And it’s just awesome.

Stephen King fans have been anxiously awaiting news of ‘The Dark Tower’ – the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic novel. Starring Idris Elba as the iconic Gunslinger, it’s been in the works for quite some time… and we’re all itching to catch the first trailer.

Well, it looks as though we won’t have to wait much longer, as a new poster appears online.

Pretty epic, right?

As you can see, the poster depicts Idris Elba’s Gunslinger (aka Roland Deschain) along with Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers… and they’re almost directly opposite the ominous figure of The Man in Black, played by none other than Matthew McConaughey.

The coolest part? The negative space created by the buildings around them depicts the ominous Dark Tower – the very tower that Roland is searching for in the movie/novels.

And there’s already been some speculation about those buildings…

“The buildings that look like New York City could be Lud, a post-apocalyptic city in Mid-World that shares plenty of similarities with The Big Apple,” says SlashFilm. “Since that location only appears in the third book in Stephen King’s series, that would be a clear indication of how bits of all the books are being lumped into this film adaptation. But those buildings don’t look ruined enough to be a post-apocalyptic version of the city, so that might not be the case.”

Either way, it gives us our first glimpse into the world of ‘The Dark Tower’.

And it’s looking pretty awesome.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.”

‘The Dark Tower’ stars Idris Elba, Tom Taylor, Matthew McConaughey, Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Hayley, Katheryn Winnick, and Claudia Kiim.

Nikolaj Arcel directed the film based on a script he co-wrote with Akiva Goldsman, Anders Thomas Jensen, and Jeff Pinkner.

‘The Dark Tower’ heads to cinemas on 28 July 2017.
