That's Not Cake! Watch What Olaf's Really Eating in 'Frozen Fever'

Munch munch munch. That’s what Olaf likes to do with cake in the Disney Animation short Frozen Fever. But to make the sound effect of him chowing down on the frosted treat, Josh Gad ate something entirely different.

This exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of Frozen Fever (above) shows filmmakers and cast reuniting for the follow-up short film to their Oscar-winning smash hit Frozen (the short played theatrically in front of Cinderella). In the clip we see how the song “Making Today a Perfect Day” came together. We also get a bird’s-eye view of Gad eating a croissant to simulate the sound of cake chomping. (And in that regard, Olaf is telling the complete truth when he says, “I’m not eating cake!”)

When it comes to making cake-chewing sounds carbs are carbs, it seems.

The bonus clip above is from the Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection, and will only be made available on Disney Movies Anywhere starting this Sunday. The shorts collection will also be available digitally on Aug. 11 and on Blu-ray on Aug. 18.
