Terence Cao meets alleged daughter

28 Oct – Singaporean actor Terence Cao finally met up with his former Shanghai lover and her toddler last Friday, after the scandal in which he was accused of having abandoned her after fathering the child, according to Diva Asia.

The 26-year-old mother, identified only by her family name Shi, had arrived in Singapore with her daughter about two weeks ago for a DNA test. Cao, 45, had showed up at the hotel they were staying at last Friday morning accompanied by a burly man, and took her and her child to a law firm in his car.

However, the test was eventually called off.

When asked about the meeting, Shi said that it was "okay", and that her 19-month-old girl was comfortable around Cao, and even called him dad.

The trio were together for about two hours that morning, which included a visit to a cafe close to the law firm. There, Cao was photographed spooning food into the toddler's mouth. He also fed her cake.

Shi, a former manager of a wine company, told reporters that she met the Chinese MediaCorp television actor at a party in Shanghai in May 2010 and they had a one-night stand. One month later, he invited her to spend time at his home for two weeks with him in Singapore.

Two months later, she realised she was pregnant and told him, but he told her to get an abortion. Later, Cao changed his mind and told Shi to keep the baby, nevertheless, he mostly ignored her afterwards, only sending her texts when he was drunk, asking to see pictures of the baby.

The star has a reputation as a ladies' man. One of Cao's former girlfriends include actress Jacelyn Tay, whom he dated for six years before breaking up in 1998. In April 2009, he announced that he would be wedded to a non-actress who is more than 10 years his junior, but the couple split up in June 2010.
