Tension between Fergie and Prince Philip at Eugenie's wedding, says royal expert

Prince Philip did attend the wedding of his granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, but the tension between the 97-year-old and Sarah Ferguson was clear to see, says royal expert Duncan Larcombe.

Larcombe, who spent over a decade working as the royal editor at The Sun, admitted that Philip turning up at today’s wedding as a “big deal”.

Speaking to Kate Thornton during episode nine of ‘The Royal Box‘, Larcombe spoke of Philip and Fergie’s infamous feud and confirmed that this is the closest proximity we’ve seen the pair in years.

They both attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May – but remained at a safe distance from one another.

However, at today’s wedding, Fergie sat directly in front of Philip.

Referencing the rift between Philip and Fergie, Larcombe says: “Prince Philip doesn’t like Fergie, I think it’s safe to say, and hasn’t approved of her since way back in 1982, I think.

“There was an issue over whether he was going to turn up. He did turn up, and he sat behind her.

“But, from what I watched, I didn’t see any eye contact between the two of them or anything at all.”
