TEM5IVE is the first all-Filipina K-pop group

23 Aug – 17-year-old Chrisha Choo may have been dubbed the first Filipina to debut as a K-pop idol, but according to SBS News, there are already five others who are making their way to K-pop stardom.

Formed in 2016, the all-Filipina girl group TEM5IVE is comprised of five members - Sarah, Rayna, Robie, Jyrrah, and Katy - who made their debut in November 2016 with their music video, "Miracle".

According to their YouTube channel, the group's name means "Touching People's Heart Emotionally and Mentally" and they aim to be the "happy virus".

"Our happiness is making people happy through our performance. To see the hope and happiness in their eyes. We don't want to follow other girl-groups concept and footsteps. We just want to be true to ourselves and to the people around us. We laugh. We cry. We make mistake and we learn from our mistakes. We don't see our profession as a work but as a passion."

Team leader Sarah is from Quezon City, while member Rayna was revealed to have graduated from the city's Colegio de Sta, Teresa de Avila school. Two more members, Robie and Jyrrah are from Taguig and Pasig City, respectively. On the other hand, the oldest member is Katy, who was born in 1992.

The group has since been actively involved in many shows and fan meets across Korea in order to build a steadier fanbase and establish themselves as a serious group.

One of these shows include the 2017 Korean Celebrity Basketball League, where the five girls were given the chance to meet famed producer, Park Jin-young.

However, there is no information as to when TEM5IVE will be delivering a new single.
