22 Oct – Although Dada Chan started her career working in Category III movies, Hong Kong director Teddy Robin Kwan is convinced that the actress could be the next Maggie Cheung if given the chance.
As reported on Mingpao, the director who recently promoted his new movie, "Lucid Dreams" co-starring the said actress, shared that Dada first caught his attention through her performance in the 2012 movie, "Vulgaria".
"She was already a good actress in that movie, and now that I have worked with her, I am more convinced that she is a great performer. She was in character and became the character. She has the potential to be like Maggie Cheung," he said.
In the movie, Dada plays the role of a girlfriend-for-rent, who pretended to be Louis Cheung's girlfriend and marry him in a fake wedding.
Teddy also praised the actress for being a thoughtful person, saying that he even encouraged Dada to write down her thoughts and ideas when told that she is interested in script-writing.
Aside from Dada, the director expressed admiration for another cast member, Stephy Tang.
"I used to think that she was just a "flower vase", but she is not. She was able to carry her role perfectly and performed very well," he said.
