‘Team Thor’: See What The God Of Thunder Was Up To During ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Marvel’s Comic-Con 2016 presentation was, by a Galactus-sized distance, the best of Saturday’s Hall H presentations. Along with footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, one of the biggest highlights was Team Thor, a hilarious mockumentary put together by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi that shows what the god of thunder was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Unfortunately for those of you who couldn’t make it down to San Diego, the studio released almost none of it online that night, which means you’ve had to take our word for it/seethe with jealousy. But not any longer! This morning, Marvel released Team Thor online in advance of the Civil War home video release on which it’s included as a bonus feature. Watch it above now.

Channeling a vibe similar to Waititi’s acclaimed 2014 comedy What We Do In The Shadows, the short sees all-powerful Norse god Thor taking some personal time in Australia, bonding with his new roommate, and generally being very bummed that the other avengers didn’t ask him to pick a side in the Civil War beef. The short really takes advantage of Chris Hemsworth’s recently-revealed comic timing, and Ragnarok co-star Mark Ruffalo is as much fun to watch opposite Hemsworth as he’s been with Robert Downy, Jr. Here’s hoping it’s a sign of things to come for the third Thor film.

Speaking of things to come, we can probably expect to see that Spider-Man and Guardians footage released sometime soon, and we’ll have it here as soon as that happens.

Captain America: Civil War is getting Digital HD release on September 2 and with Blu-ray and DVD following on September 13. Thor: Ragnarok comes out November 3, 2017.
