This New Tea Trend Is Going Viral

If you were able to get your hands on a pack of hot chocolate bombs or molds recently, you're one of the lucky ones. The ultra-popular winter comfort treat was sold out at supermarkets like Costco pretty quickly, and social media was filled with people making and customizing their own with marshmallows, sprinkles, candy, and more. But now a new version is taking over — hot tea bombs!

They're made with a sugar, isomalt (a sugar substitute), or even a Jolly Rancher hard candy shell and filled with either loose tea leaves or a teabag. Other additions include edible glitter, flower petals, and more. (For more tips on how to get creative in the kitchen, here are the 100 Easiest Recipes You Can Make.)

Over 2.3 million people love this idea on TikTok alone. But Instagram and Twitter users have them on their minds, too. And like their chocolate predecessor, the hot tea bombs are memorizing to watch as they melt.

Tutorials are uploaded to YouTube and already have thousands of views. If you'd rather buy them, several Etsy shops have them for sale, too, with herbal, black, green, and other options.

There's no word yet on if or when this new creation will hit grocery store shelves like the hot chocolate bombs. But if their popularity continues to rise, they could see the same fate, selling out as quickly as they arrived.
