Every deck of tarot cards has four queens, one for each of the four suits: Coins (or Pentacles), Wands, Cups, and Swords. These suits match up to star signs, which means everyone gets their very own royal talisman.

Queens are a big deal in the tarot. They are a symbol of leadership, reaching that stage in life where you’re happy in your own skin, finding your ~niche~, becoming a person that others look up to and follow—a boss, basically.

The suit that each of the four queens represents the area of life that you’re becoming fulfilled by, in control of, and an example to others in. Each of the four suits links to one of the astrological elements:

  • Coins = earth
  • Wands = fire
  • Cups = water
  • Swords = air

Your queen represents your astrological element, and her message to you is about reaching your potential and destiny in the area of life covered by that tarot suit. Pro tip: If you have a tarot deck, take your queen from the deck and pop the card in your wallet, on your desk, or in your mirror. (Side note: tarot cards make cuuute tattoos. Just sayin’) Use this card as a talisman, to help amplify your ambitions and aspirations.

Let your tarot queen ~charge~ your energy and lend you her strength and power. Feel the force bb!

Now, here’s what each queen symbolizes:

QUEEN OF COINS: Virgo, Capricorn, Taurus

The Queen of Coins is in control of her body, resources, and energy. She is both a self-made success story and a kind of Mother Nature figure. She takes care of herself, of her business, and others. She is the kind of rock we all want in our life. She is wealthy—not just materially, but in wisdom and opportunity too.

This card is a message to you that you need to be practical, assertive, resourceful, and shrewd about your material world; your health, energy, money, career, home or assets. We all need these bedrocks in our life in order to feel secure. How in control do you feel of these areas? Are you independent and able to assert what you need in this life? Do you look after others? This card asks you to step up and take ownership. We are responsible for ourselves first and foremost, and then to protect and support those we love.

TL;DR:

  • Look after others, but look after yourself first
  • Take control of your resources and material wealth
  • Say Y-E-S to new opportunities that bring wealth and security

QUEEN OF CUPS: Scorpio, Cancer, Pisces

*deep breaths* The Queen of Cups can signal it’s time to do some deep-down emotional excavation and repairs. Follow your feelings to their sources and root causes, identify their triggers, discover what motivates and scares you—this reflection will lead you to your authentic pathway. Only you can truly get to know yourself. Only you have that inward gaze.

The Queen of Cups is one of the most psychic, spiritual, and intuitive cards in the tarot. She suggests that your niche is found not always by action, but via introspection and trusting your own intuition.

Maybe you can provide care, compassion, and spiritual nurturing to someone else, hmm? Sometimes helping others is the secret to learning most about your true nature and calling in this life. PSA: You should always follow your heart, over your head!

TL;DR:

  • Explore your inner landscape
  • Self-awareness will lead you to your true pathway
  • Help and support others with compassion and care

QUEEN OF SWORDS: Gemini, Aquarius, Libra

The Queen of Swords is a no-nonsense, intelligent, clear and concise figure of wisdom and truth. She urges us to stop dancing around the issue and see things as they really are. You can’t do anything useful with lies or illusions, mmkay? All progress should be built on truth and honesty, that is how firm foundations are built which enable us to reach new heights. This queen would rather think than feel. She is sharp and shrewd, but all of her analysis and opinion comes from a good place. She strives to improve things.

She also reminds you to keep your sense of humor along the way, and don’t judge other people so much. None of us are blameless, we all have our flaws, we all make mistakes. Accept others for who they are.

TL;DR:

  • Strip away the BS
  • Be clear and concise in your dealings
  • Tough love may be required, but it’s still love

QUEEN OF WANDS: Sagittarius, Leo, Aries

The Queen of Wands is a hustler! An energetic (but not stressed), ambitious (but not competitive), dynamic (but not erratic) go-getter. She brings the message that you need to be strong, bold, and assertive about what you want in this life. The Queen of Wands is a leader, and takes others with her on account of her infectious good nature and vision.

She wants everyone to be a winner, and although she puts herself first, it is not at the expense of others. Pursue an irresistible dream, take others with you, and enjoy every second of the journey.

Exploration, pioneering, travel and adventure are the life force of this queen and the energy she brings to her subjects.

TL;DR:

  • Make your dreams into adventures and enjoy the ride
  • Lead with love, energy, and compassion
  • Go for it!
