HGTV Shared a Preview of Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young's Engagement Episode and Already We're Tearing up

From House Beautiful

By now, you've probably seen countless photos of HGTV's Tarek El Moussa's romantic beach proposal to Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young. In late July, the 39-year-old home reno expert got down on one knee and popped the big question. From the photos, it looked like the most idyllic proposal—barefoot in the sand, a rose petal aisle lined with candles, the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop, need I say more? However, what you might not have known is that the entire proposal was filmed by HGTV and is coming to a screen near you.

A representative for HGTV confirmed that El Moussa's proposal to Young will be shown during next week's new episode (which also happens to be the season finale) of Flipping 101 w/ Tarek El Moussa. Fans can tune into HGTV on October 8th at 9 p.m. to catch this special episode.

To get fans excited, HGTV shared a sneak peak of it to Instagram yesterday and it looks nothing like your typical Flipping 101 episode—not one power tool in sight. In fact, it almost looks like a scene from The Bachelor and already we're getting a little teary-eyed.

During the preview clip, El Moussa explained that he would be proposing to his girlfriend. "If you were to ask me what the perfect proposal looks like, I'd say it's on a beach in Catalina with a lot of candles, a lot of rose petals, a lot of lighting, and a lot of romance," he said.

While an entire film crew was in on the proposal, the HGTV star kept it a surprise from Young. "I've done everything humanly impossible to play it off like we're filming for our normal TV shows. She has no idea that I'm actually planning on doing something special," he said.

There's also a scene in the preview clip that suggests we'll get to see the exact moment when El Moussa tell his ten-year-old daughter Taylor about his plans to propose. In the clip, Taylor said "Oh my god," while hugging her dad. As previously reported, El Moussa told Taylor about his plans to pop the question before anyone else. He later described her reaction to the news as "the most excited I’ve ever seen her."

Towards the end of the clip, El Moussa explained that the last few years of his life have been difficult and noted his cancer struggles. However, he referred to this engagement as the "next chapter" for him.

You can watch the special engagement episode on October 8th at 9 p.m. on HGTV.
