Taika Waititi has said that the recently announced release delay of Thor: Love and Thunder will allow him to fine tune the movie's script.

The latest of the Thor standalone movies was due for release in November, 2021, but will now land on 11 February, 2022 instead, as Marvel adjusts its slate due to production closures around the coronavirus pandemic.

He told Total Film: “We’re still writing Love And Thunder, and I think it’s good to just keep writing, and then you know, we’ll have a really, really good script.

“And with writing, especially, you should use as much of that time as possible to get your story right, because you never really get it later on.

“Film is an industry where you’re always complaining about not having enough time. I think, right now, we’ve given ourselves a huge amount of time to work on all sort of things, so we may as well use it.”

Waititi helmed the much-loved Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel, making it to all intents and purposes a comedy movie.

Speaking about Love and Thunder, Thor star Chris Hemsworth has already said that it's 'one of the best scripts I've read in years'.

The movie will hail the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, with rumours that she will be picking up the title of 'Thor', with Tessa Thompson also back as Valkyrie.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale will be making his Marvel debut as the movie's as-yet unknown villain, while Waititi is expected to reprise his role as Korg.
