“The Battleship Island” is a South Korean war drama in Korean and Japanese. The film is set in World War II, and focuses on the events on Hashima Island (nicknamed Battleship Island), a Japanese island with a forced labour camp made up mostly of Koreans. “The Battleship Island” is direct and written by Ryoo Seung-wan.

Several hundred fans flooded the North Atrium of Suntec Tower Two on Tuesday evening (8 August) to catch a glimpse of South Korean star Song Joong-ki during a meet-and-greet session, part of promotions for his upcoming movie The Battleship Island.
South Korea heartthrob Song Joong-ki may have finished his two-years of mandatory military service in 2015, but the actor feels he’s “been a soldier for five years” thanks to his roles in “Descendants of the Sun” and more recently, “The Battleship Island”. “I feel like I have lived five years as a soldier,” Song said during a press conference for “The Battleship Island” on Tuesday (8 Aug).
Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, better known as the Song-Song couple from hit K-drama “Descendants of the Sun” have announced that they will tie the knot on 31 October this year. The announcement came through Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency, who called the announcement “surprising news”.
