‘Life’, the ‘Alien’-inspired sci-fi thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds, may get the sequel treatment, if its writers have anything to do with it. There are certainly doubts over ‘Life’s franchise potential, but wrtier Rhett Reese still has an idea about how the story could continue. At the end of the film, surviving astronauts David (Gyllenhaal) and Miranda (Rebecca Ferguson) try and fail to contain and destroy the alien beastie that’s killed their friends and trashed the International Space Station.

It looks as though the cast for ‘Deadpool 2’ is one step closer to being confirmed, because just a few days after it was announced that ‘Atlanta’s’ Zazie Beetz has been cast as Domino it has now emerged that Michael Shannon is the frontrunner to play Cable. Both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have alleged that the Academy Award nominated actor is currently leading the shortlist for the role, which also includes ‘Stranger Things’s’ David Harbour. The casting of Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ has been quite a contentious issue.
Reynolds and Gyllenhaal have spent the last few weeks conducting numerous interviews to support the sci-fi horror film. Just look at the recent interview they conducted with Fox 5, which saw Reynolds and Gyllenhaal handed ‘Deadpool’ pins, only for the latter to immediately throw his away in disgust.
2016 was an eventful year for comic book movies, with an array of successes, disappointments, and downright disasters. ‘Deadpool’ was one 2016’s success stories. While the first film’s writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were talking to Comicbook.com about their new sci-fi-horror ‘Life’, the pair commented on how ‘Deadpool 2’ would be cast imminently.
The Merc with a Mouth will have plenty of crime-fighting company in Deadpool 2. Star Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter today to announce that Zazie Beetz, who plays Donald Glover’s ex-girlfriend/baby-mama on the hit FX comedy Atlanta, has joined the cast as fellow mutant mercenary Domino. Domino first popped up in Marvel comic books in the early 1990s.
How’s this for plot twists: The R-rated superhero smash Deadpool is now a legit Oscar contender. Two days after competing for Best Picture — Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes, the action movie starring Ryan Reynolds has scored another major accolade: a Best Picture nomination from the Producers Guild of America, long considered one of the best predictors of the Academy Awards’ top race. Deadpool edged out more conventional awards-season films, such as Martin Scorsese’s Silence and Clint Eastwood’s Sully, to secure a slot in the PGA list.

James has obviously inherited her parents’s enhanced sense of style, already mixing patterns like a pro. James sat on Lively’s lap throughout the ceremony.
The 'Deadpool' star was honored with the Entertainer of the Year award at Sunday's show.
As had been expected, the seasoned stuntman-turned-director has officially signed on to take the helm on ‘Deadpool 2,’ The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Leitch – who co-directed ‘John Wick’ with Chad Stahelski, but was officially credited as a producer due to Director’s Guild of America rules - was among the first names mentioned in contention for ‘Deadpool 2’ when original director Tim Miller unexpectedly dropped out. ‘Deadpool 2’ will be only his third directorial credit, yet it seems already confirmed that he will not be returning for the already-announced ‘Deadpool 3,’ as THR report that studio 20th Century Fox are already on the lookout for another director to take the helm on that film.
Ryan Reynolds has revealed that ‘Deadpool’s’ editing was beset with “scary fights” as the creative team tried to get the film just right. Reynolds made this admission to GQ after he was named the magazine’s 2016 Man Of The Year, which is mostly down to how ‘Deadpool’ stormed the box office when it was released earlier this year. It was the most passionate group of individuals I’ve ever worked with in my life,” Reynolds admitted.
Oh, these two! Ryan Reynolds was named one of GQ’s Men of the Year and was asked by the mag when he knew wife Blake Lively was “the one.” Naturally, the actor had a witty response to the question.
20th Century Fox may have found the new director for ‘Deadpool 2,’ a new report claims – and it’s one half of the directorial duo behind acclaimed action movie ‘John Wick.’
Film fandom was shocked this weekend by the unexpected departure of ‘Deadpool’ director Tim Miller from the upcoming sequel – but one enterprising fan has a bold suggestion for a replacement. Ryan Reynolds’ demands drove Tim Miller off Deadpool 2?
Just when we thought the future of ‘Deadpool’ was looking rosy, its director Tim Miller has left the project. Deadline have revealed that due to creative differences Miller has left the project, which comes as quite a blow to the beginning of what was shaping to be a lucrative franchise. Having directed the 2015 hit, Miller was on board to helm the sequel which would see Ryan Reynolds return as the foul-mouthed, quick talking merc, Deadpool, but it appears their working relationship is now over.

For most performers, appearing as a character from a Marvel superhero comic would be a dream come true. Howard was really disappointed with Robert Downey Jr – as well as the studio – after the former was let go from the ‘Iron Man’ franchise for apparently refusing to take a lower salary for the superhero sequel. Discussing how he had helped convince studio execs to hire Downey in the first place and hoping for similar aid in return, he told Rolling Stone, “I called Robby…leaving messages with his assistants, called him at least 17 times that day and 21 the next and finally left a message saying, ‘look, man, I need the help that I gave you’.
In an interview on Any Time with Vin Forte, scriptwriter Nicole Perlman explained why ‘Captain Marvel’ is getting a big change to her big screen origin story. “If you were just going to do a straight adaptation of the comics, her origin story is very similar to Green Lantern. The comic book origins feature an alien with amazing superhuman abilities travelling to Earth and bestowing those abilities upon the human, Carol Danvers.
Don't ask Ryan Reynolds who would win in a battle between his Marvel hero and DC's Suicide Squad hit man.
Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds took a break from filming in Amsterdam this week to pose for photos with a gang of nuns after being mobbed between takes. One nun even took the opportunity to plant a smacker on the cheek of ‘Pulp Fiction’ star Samuel L Jackson who’s in the Dutch capital with Reynolds shooting his new film ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’. Whether the nuns are ‘Deadpool’ fans is not clear, but they sure seemed taken with Reynolds who seemed to keep his character’s foul-mouth quips in check for this holy encounter. ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ is an action comedy, directed by ‘The Expendables 3′s Patrick Hughes, based on the 2011 Blacklist-shortlisted script by Tom O’Connor.
Well played 20th Century Fox’s marketing team. Because with ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ due for release in Japan at the start of August they decided to give the blockbuster an extra promotional push by calling in Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool to cameo in the trailer. After ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’’s trailer comes to an end it then abruptly cuts to Deadpool sat in a director’s chair, and the masked vigilante then launches into a hysterical diatribe that pokes fun at Fox and then proceeds to riff on the X-Men family.
