Being a royal isn’t easy. Since joining Britain’s most famous family, both Meghan Markle and the Duchess of Cambridge have had to live life in the public eye - and adopt certain social graces. While, according to numerous palace sources, there are no specific ‘etiquette rules’ that both Kate, Megan and other members of the Royal Family follow, there are subtle gestures and signature poses that we can identify in each of them. “There’s an actual technique to everything Meghan and Kate do,” royal etiquette expert Myka Meier tells Yahoo UK. “We see and practise things that both the duchesses practise today from the way they stand, they get out of a car, they wave.” The pair’s most famous technique is the ‘duchess slant’, Meier explains. The seated position, which you’ve undoubtedly seen both the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex showcase, involves locking the knees and ankles together, angling their legs and creating a zig zag shape. “This is to protect their modesty against any camera that’s coming straight on,” says Meier.
